Runs very small!

It's a lovely dress, but it runs really small. I'm a size 12 (5'7", 180lb) but because it runs so small not only I could barely zip this up, the waist ended up being high so the back looked awkward. It is pretty and slimming so I considered exchanging it but I'm not sure that going a size up would be enough.
